This workshop provides a structured overview of DSM-5 and ICD-11 criteria for female sexual dysfunctions, with emphasis on diagnostic distinctions and clinical challenges. Through case vignettes, role-play, and group activities, participants will strengthen their ability to identify diagnostic features, consider differential diagnoses, and evaluate patient context. Special attention is given to low desire, orgasmic difficulties, and genito-pelvic pain/penetration disorder, as well as co-morbidities and referral considerations.

About the Presenter

Dr. Wafaa Eltantawy is a Gynaecologist who specialised in Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare. She is also a certified Psychosexual Therapist, a Supervisor and a Fellow of the Association of psychosexual therapists (IAPST). She is also the vice president of the IAPST and the vice president of EMFeSH ( WAS). Dr Eltantawy is the clinical lead for the psychosexual clinic in Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust. She is a COSRT Accredited Psychosexual and Relationship Therapist and Supervisor . She is an ATSAC Accredited Sex Addiction Therapist.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Differentiate between DSM-5 and ICD-11 criteria for female sexual dysfunctions, including interest/arousal disorder, orgasmic disorder, and genito-pelvic pain/penetration disorder.
  2. Apply diagnostic frameworks to case vignettes by identifying key features, evaluating differential diagnoses, and considering patient context and distress.
  3. Integrate psychological, relational, and medical perspectives into assessment, and recognize when referral for medical evaluation is clinically appropriate.
