Class 1

10:00 AM - 1:00 PM EST

Embracing Vulnerability: An Experiential Workshop on Understanding, Experiencing, and Liberating from Shame Microaggressions in Therapy

This presentation will NOT be recorded for playback review

In this transformative workshop participants will embark on a journey of self-discovery and growth. Unlike traditional workshops, this experience is designed for active participation, not passive observation, fostering a deep connection between all participants.

The workshop has two central objectives. First and foremost, it aims to provide valuable insights into the complex emotion of shame, shedding light on its origins and manifestations. Secondly, participants will engage in a series of carefully crafted, safe, and staged experiences that allow them to confront and process feelings of shame in a supportive group setting. Through the workshop attendees will learn how to help clients process these emotions, paving the way for healing and growth.

(Trainer - Eliezer Evan Schwadron, LCSW-R is a therapist at Yedei in Chestnut Ridge, NY. Eliezer Schwadron started working as a social worker in 1986. He works connecting fathers and sons, supporting couples to love more deeply, and strengthening the belief that as a person, I matter. He works confronting his own and others' shame everyday.)

Class 2

What All Clinicians Need To Know About Trauma Treatment: The Do's and Don'ts of Effective Trauma Therapy

This presentation will NOT be recorded for playback review

When it comes to effective trauma treatment, adhering to certain principles can make a profound difference in outcomes. The most important aspect of positive  trauma treatment involves creating a safe and supportive environment where individuals feel heard and validated. The genuine relationship is crucial. Therapists must prioritize empathy and understanding, allowing survivors to process their experiences at their own pace. Using evidence-based therapies eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) and internal family systems (IFS) can be instrumental in helping individuals reframe their traumatic memories and build resilience. On the contrary, poorly executed trauma treatment can exacerbate symptoms and re-traumatize individuals, leading to prolonged distress and distrust of future therapeutic interventions. Therefore, a nuanced and compassionate approach is crucial in fostering healing and positive change in trauma survivors' lives.

(Trainer - Sam Paris, LCSW graduated from NYU in 2012. He has been doing clinical work ever since. He maintains a private practice, integrating EMDR, IFS, and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, focusing on treating adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse. His passion is learning, practicing, and educating about effective trauma treatment.)
