This workshop will not be available for playback review
Across the nation, drug overdose deaths have increased greatly in recent years. Non-medical prescription opioids and other illicit drugs pose dangerous consequences for those engaging in substance misuse. Non-medical prescription opioid use entails the use of opioids either without a prescription and/or in ways that do not coincide with how prescribed opioids are medically prescribed. Given the link of onset of substance misuse and the presence of mental health conditions, health and human service professionals have an integral role in mitigating use and supporting those engaging in substance misuse. This webinar will provide a look at non-medical opioid misuse in the United States by providing an overview of prevalence, trends, and clinical implications for providers. A focus on ethics and ethical implications will be discussed. This is an introductory course and provides factual information based off of the presenter's national research and co-authored publications.
Class 2: 1:45PM-4:45PM EST
