Still I Rise

Sunday, March 15th, 2026   1:45 PM EDT -4:45 PM EDT
Crystal Rozelle-Bennett
$59.99

The presentation addresses the pervasive issue of sexual violence against African American women and girls, highlighting alarming statistics such as 22% of Black women and girls aged 12 and older experiencing rape and sexual assault. It emphasizes the systemic nature of sexual violence, perpetrated by institutions and networks that are often seen as sources of safety.

The presentation discusses the historical and ongoing oppression faced by Black individuals, drawing parallels between past and present forms of control and discrimination and calls for a shift in culture, urging professionals to create safe and brave spaces for Black women to disclose their traumas and begin their healing journeys.

Key themes include the importance of centering the voices and needs of African American survivors, acknowledging and addressing cultural missteps, and promoting restoration, reconciliation, and transformation through survivor-centered and solution-based justice. The presentation also explores the strengths of Black women and their communities, advocating for the use of cultural strengths for healing and liberation.
