This webinar is live only and will not be recorded.

Some clients enter treatment, exhibit a genuine desire to change, and live recovery. Some clients enter treatment, have some external motivations to change, and go right back to using.

The clients that tend to affect us the most are:

The clients who enter treatment exhibit a genuine desire to change, and continue to relapse anyway. They begin to lose hope. They start to see themselves as “chronic” relapsers. They try and try, but they can’t seem to figure it out. They lose all hope and become increasingly suicidal.

As therapists, we often feel helpless, and we begin to lose hope as well. It can be both frightening and tiring to work with these clients. When we truly understand trauma, and we approach relapse from that perspective, we are no longer helpless as therapists.
