Treating OCD with ERP (Exposure and Response Prevention)

On average, it takes a person with OCD 14-17 years from the onset of symptoms to get a proper diagnosis and effective treatment. We need to do better. In this class you will learn how to correctly diagnose Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, educate clients about it, give them hope, elicit motivation, and provide effective treatment. Exposure and Response Prevention is evidence-based treatment, which is unique to treating OCD. You will learn about this therapeutic approach and how to apply it in a clinical setting (in-person or telehealth). You will engage in experiential exercises, learn metaphors, and review clinical examples. We will also discuss engaging client's support system in the process, which is very important in treating OCD.
