This workshop will help you gain a better understanding of Trichotillomania, one of the least researched and most misunderstood disorders in the DSM. There is unfortunately a lot of pseudoscience about about how to treat TTM. Clinicians will learn effective treatment strategies and practical interventions to prevent hair pulling. Treating Trichotillomania doesn't need to be stressful.Clinicians will no longer have to "pull their hair out" when trying to help their clients with TTM. In this workshop clinicians will learn how to help clients increase awareness, change behaviors and regulate their emotions when pulling. Clinicians will gain effective knowledge and resources on how to treat TTM.

Agenda:

-Introductions and Ice Breaker (5 minutes) -what is TTM? criteria, onset, causes, medications (10 minutes) - what is Habit reversal Training and brief overview of some other treatment models that are used ? (5 min) -why do people pull? (5 min) -strategies to help with pulling (10 min) -setting up a comprehensive treatment plan using Habit reversal training (20 min) - relapse prevention (5 min) - review and summarize (5 min)
